Craniocervical Flexion Test (CCFT)

Assesses endurance of deep cervical flexors with biofeedback.

Strength

Purpose

Screen for Craniocervical Flexion findings.

Execution

  1. 1Lie supine with knees bent and head supported
  2. 2Gently nod the chin as if saying "yes" without lifting the head
  3. 3Maintain the nod while lifting the head slightly
  4. 4Hold for the prescribed time or pressure target
  5. 5Monitor for loss of chin tuck or compensations

  1. 1Observe from: supine.
  2. 2Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
