Assessment of hip abduction strength (gluteus medius).

Screen for Hip Abduction Strength findings.
Execution
- 1Lie on the side with the test leg on top
- 2Keep the pelvis stacked and knee straight
- 3Abduct the top leg against manual resistance
- 4Hold 3-5 seconds while resisting
- 5Compare left vs right
Key Observations
- <20% bodyweight indicates significant weakness
- Compare bilaterally
Protocol
- 1Observe from: lateral.
- 2Standardize start position and instructions.
- 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
