Screen for trunk and scapular control during a push-up.
Execution
- 1Start in a plank position with hands under shoulders
- 2Perform controlled push-ups to a consistent depth
- 3Observe trunk alignment and scapular control
- 4Note compensations such as sagging or winging
- 5Repeat 3-5 reps
Key Observations
- Maintain a plank position
- Scapular motion (winging)
- Elbows 20-45 deg from the torso
- Chest close to the floor
Protocol
- 1Observe from: lateral, superior.
- 2Standardize start position and instructions.
- 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
