Assesses glenohumeral internal rotation (GIRD).

Purpose

Screen for Shoulder Internal Rotation at 90 deg Abduction findings.

Execution

  1. 1Lie supine with shoulder abducted to 90 deg
  2. 2Flex the elbow to 90 deg and stabilize the scapula
  3. 3Rotate the forearm toward the table into internal rotation
  4. 4Stop before the shoulder lifts
  5. 5Compare sides

  1. 1Observe from: supine.
  2. 2Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
