Assesses glenohumeral internal rotation (GIRD).

Screen for Shoulder Internal Rotation at 90 deg Abduction findings.
Execution
- 1Lie supine with shoulder abducted to 90 deg
- 2Flex the elbow to 90 deg and stabilize the scapula
- 3Rotate the forearm toward the table into internal rotation
- 4Stop before the shoulder lifts
- 5Compare sides
Key Observations
- Normal >70 deg
- Compare bilaterally
- Total arc (ER + IR) >180 deg
Protocol
- 1Observe from: supine.
- 2Standardize start position and instructions.
- 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
