Thoracic Kyphosis Measurement
Measure thoracic kyphosis using a flexicurve or inclinometer.
PosturePurpose
Screen for Thoracic Kyphosis Measurement findings.
Execution
- 1Stand relaxed with arms at sides
- 2Mold the flexicurve along the thoracic spine
- 3Trace the curve on paper or measure directly
- 4Calculate or estimate the kyphosis angle
- 5Document the value
Key Observations
- Normal 20-40 deg (Cobb angle)
- >40 deg indicates hyperkyphosis
Protocol
- 1Observe from: lateral.
- 2Standardize start position and instructions.
- 3Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- 4Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- 5Compare left vs right when applicable.
